epicroms.net

At the time of this scan, no security engines out of 91 checked flagged this domain for malware, and major content-based blacklist databases (including phishing and malware URL databases) reported the domain as clean. However, a heuristic malware scan identified the site as "suspicious," flagging a large majority of scanned internal pages and outbound links with a generic pattern-matching label rather than a named malware family. This type of generic heuristic flag, without corroboration from other engines, is a lower-confidence signal, though the sheer number of flagged pages (32 of 45 scanned files, and over 1,100 of 1,211 links) is worth noting given the nature of the content being distributed.

Two referenced third-party domains were also flagged: a file-hosting service (datanodes.to) used extensively throughout the site for delivering ROM and emulator archives, and an advertising/tracking domain (e.dtscout.com) that received a more serious generic-malicious label from the heuristic scanner. Because this site funnels a large number of downloads through an external file locker, visitors should be aware that the ultimate safety of any downloaded file depends on that third-party host, which is outside the scope of this domain's own reputation data. Blacklist and phishing-database checks for the domain itself came back clean across all providers checked, including reputation and mail-based blocklists.

Given the mixed signal - clean multi-engine and blacklist results alongside a heuristic "suspicious" tag on a ROM/emulator distribution site with heavy reliance on external file-locker downloads - this website may pose a moderate degree of risk, primarily tied to the nature of the downloadable content and the third-party hosts it links to, rather than confirmed malware hosted directly on the domain. Visitors should exercise caution before downloading and running any executable files obtained through this site.
